Anytime you return from California, you should balance your tires.

Yes, lug centric.
X2 Lug centric requires an adapter on the machine to mount the tire to the balancer through the lug holes rather than the through the hub. Not all shops can do that so be sure and ask. If you get a glazed look - ask again until you get a confident answer. You may have to go to a different shop if they don't have the adapters.

Discount Tires had the adapters, but the techs that know what they do are not very common.

You have a heavy rig, what tires are you replacing and what with?

Balance for sure.

Lug centric balancing is pretty rare. better, sure but rare for any tire balancing, car, truck or trailer.

not only is it easier on the trailer if you balance the tires, but it take power to spin a tire that is not balanced.

I always do. If you have ever seen an unbalanced tire on a trailer flapping around it is easy to understand why.
