Looking to take a long weekend and don't want to drive too far. Keeping it in New England, we are always interested in campgrounds with a "lazy river" on site.
We've stayed at Flat Rock Bridge in ME, and it was awesome. Also did the Scroon River in Lake George region.
Anyone know of campgrounds that have rivers where you can float your tubes by either starting or ending at (or near) the campground?
Thanks.

Nickerson Park in Chaplin,CT has the Natchaug River that runs along the campground. I use the campground for fishing but offers tubing during the summer. Call the campground about the tubing to see if it would fit your needs. Campground gets good reviews also.
We also enjoyed tubing on the Scroon Rive in Lake George!

In North Conway, NH. The river is right there. That is where we have been going for many years. It isn't a resort but it sure is a comfortable family oriented campground and the current owners are really nice people. We always have a site on the river and watch the campers put their tubes in at one end of the campground and drift to the other end. The campground also has a "put in" service where they drive you to a put in site upriver and float/paddle/drift to the campground, your canoe (or whatever) or rent theirs.

Saco River CG looks real nice, but it seems they have a 5 night minimum from now till Labor Day. That may not fit my plans for this summer.
I forgot about Nickerson. We used to go there way back. Nice place.
Thanks for the responses.

I know that early in the season (May, June) they want 5 night minimum but give them a call. We have gone often for 3 night weekends at the end of June but they didn't take advance reservations for 3 nighters until early June since they naturaly want to get week long reservaions. The people in the office are nice people (and often you will get the owner). Don't call during check-in time because they get real busy then.
