I been told by service department techs. To grease the wheel bearings
every two years. Is that correct, and how many miles can I run before repacking.

I have a dual axle with EZ-Lube hubs. Every year I hand pack one hub, so I can check brake linings and bearings. Other three hubs get slow squirts from hand grease gun into EZ-Lube fitting. I do about 8500 miles a year.

Al-Ko axels says to repack every 6000 miles or once a year. Al-Ko manual here Dexter Axel says yearly or 12,000 miles. Dexter sheet here Hope this helps.

I don't worry about the mileage. I think every two years is okay. Purchase an inexpensive infrared thermometer and check your bearing and tire temps at every stop (and check your tow vehicle tires, too). What you're looking for are inconsistent temps. If three of four bearings are 140 degrees and one is 180, you need to check the one with the high temp at your earliest convenience. As I recall, bearing temps higher than 200 degrees are critical and should be dealt with immediately.

What does your owners manual say? I think I would listen to the service department techs since they are subject matter experts in the RV service business and not just giving personal opinions based on good or bad personal experience.

I have the EZ lube axles, and not really impressed. I called Dester, and they only wanted them greased when all the grease is warm. Told me to pull trailer to warm grease. Pump slowely. All this to keep from pushing the seal out the back. Talked to a Dexter dealer in Amarillo tX and he said only grease by hand. I just repack once a year and forget about the EZ lube.

Just got done doin mine. Dealer I bought the trailer from said they repacked them and checked the brakes......yeah,,,right,,,,,NOT. I take my trailer into a trailer sales place for any running gear problems. We have lots of them here in Texas that sell horse and stock trailers. Cost me $100 to have the bearings repacked and the brakes adjusted. For $100 it ain't worth me even getting my tools out much less laying in the dirt in 100 degrees. Just got to find one that you can trust.

My manual says yearly or every 10,000 miles. I ignore the mileage, it's not that far where I like to camp. Even Canada's only about a 3000 mile trip. I first started greasing the bearings yearly, but found they really didn't need it. So I've gone to every two years. Often they still look good, but I do it anyway on general principles. I have an older, single axle TT without the EZ Lube feature. But regardless, I'd still pack them by hand, my attitude being if it's EZ it's not the best way to do it.
