So we had a little situation where we accidentally broke the metal safety wire that attaches to the hitch and the TT in case we get separated so that it can put the brakes on the TT.
We were worried about the cost to replace at the local hitch place, plus they aren't open late and we both work so we headed to our local Home Depot, broken wire in hand.
What do you know? They were able to use the parts from the broken one to make us an exact replica. I think it cost all of $5 or $6.
They also have the pins used to hold the hitch in place on the back of the truck (can you tell I don't know what any of these things is called?!). We misplaced one of those, so we bought several and now keep the extras with our stash of extra parts (replacement lightbulbs, fuses, etc.).
And they had a huge variety of the Command adhesive hooks we love to use in the trailer.
I am sure Lowe's and other similar stores carry such things.
Thought others could use the tip.

most dealers that sell accessories have them in stock and I doubt they would cost that much to replace

It is nice to know you can get a breakaway cable made at the local home improvement store. We had to get a longer one when we got our Hensley hitch and they sure didn't have what we needed at the RV store. Got one made the exact right length.
