You gotta stop at Wall Drug Store.
You will begin seeing the billboards hundreds of miles before you get there. Sure has changed since 1977.

I cant remember where it was but we were just toodeling along and saw a sign that said (tractor museum) well beeing an antique tractor nut we had to pull in, it was a very nice collection of maybe 40 or so all brands and also had some ald houses and a one room school set up, the older fellow that gave the tour was very interesting just an old timey type of guy.

OK i looked it up, it's exit 284 of I90 Kimball SD.

also you could spend over 1/2 a day at Mitchel (cabelas) outdoor store.

If you like Laura Ingalls Wilder, you might want to stop in DeSmet.

How about the Badlands National park? There's a nice KOA near the SE corner of the park. There are also the Minute Man silo and bunker tour (http://www.nps.gov/mimi/index.htm) and the tour of Ellsworth AFB (http://www.sdairandspacemuseum.com/).

If you just want to overnight, you can overnight at Cabella's in Mitchell,it can get expensive, IF you go inside, while there, you can spend an hour at the Corn Palace.

We stayed at Sleepy Hollow campground in Wall - could walk to the store and downtown area and used it as a base to explore Badlands NP

It has full hookups and a Woodalls 4 star rating
