My wifes family lives in the Denison area and while we lived in the Wichita Falls area used drive up there alot back in the mid 70's. Always went to the OK side of the Lake Texoma... Never really camped at the many Lake Texoma campground. Looks like a perfect Lake for camp grounds...

I second Tawakoni or check out Purtis Creek State park. Both are very shaded and great places to stat at. I hit Tawakoni atleast once a month.

Lake Tawakoni is nice. I third that motion.

Also, we went to Ft. Richardson (south of Jacksboro) a few weeks ago. The campsites were very nice and shaded. There were lots of deer and other animals about. The kids loved seeing a wild tarantula on the road. Take the tour of where the Fort was. The guide is friendly and quite the character.

Well, I ended up going to Daingerfield State Park in east Texas. I had a premium site which is a pull through with sewer and overlooks the lake. The pine trees were beautiful and the breezes were great. It is really a family place. Has a great swimming beach. The rangers also were very accommodating. I spent 3 nites and am looking forward to going back. Almost all the sites have sewer and cost less than the lakes closer to Dallas.
