What is amazing is this must work, otherwise it would have died out years ago. Same with the Nigerian finance minister guy trying to get millions out of Nigeria. Or the lady dying of cancer with no heirs who just needs to test your honesty before she puts you down as sole heir. Thankfully, I don't fall for these things since I just won a Carribean lottery I don't even remember entering and as soon as my tax and processing check clears, I will be getting $142 million dollars!

You are correct. See this complaint.

Jack Martin & Joe George
Complaint 81284 DetailsThumbs up0 Thumbs down Flag X
What is the reason for this flag? (limit 2000 chars)Reported Damages:$993.00 Originally contacted via email by Jack Martin requesting further information about our RV for sale through RV Online. He provided information stating he had deposited $23,999 into our Paypal account and we received a confirmation email from Paypal which turned out ot be false. We were asked in the Paypal email to send $900 to Joe George in Michingan for transportation of the RV. I hate to admit that I fell for it and proceeded to send the funds through Western Union as requested. The next day we received an additional email from Paypal stating an error occured in processing and Jack Martin had deosited additional funds ito our account so we could transfer them to Joe George. This raised my suspicions and we contacted Paypal. They let us know that they would never direct funds transfers through Western Union and that we had been scammed. I filed a report with US Federal Internet Crimes and am posting this in hopes others will not be scammed by this duo.

Very simple way to handle these people. I am set up to sell hay on the internet to anybody.

Here is how it works.

Open an account at your local bank for $25. You receive an account number. Next put a special note on that account. Money may be deposited but only with drawn by personal appearance at the bank with proper I.D.

You can give out the account number. Won't help anyone trying to fraud the account. All withdrawals go tilt. They can make the deposit. When the bank says the money is in fact there for sure release the item for sale.

Those TYPE of scams are not at all uncommon. The premise is that the email was SUPPOSED to go to another and got to you by accident. Doesn't have to be RV related but could be anything they're hawking. You can't be scammed if you're not looking for something for nothing.

There is no proof that the famous quote of "A sucker is born every minute" was said by P.T. Barnum...but if it was true 121 years ago it's certainly true now!

You'd better be careful. Legitimate looking bank transfers do arrive and get credited for deposit - only to be reversed days or weeks later when the interbank transfers fail.
