I'm not sure who posted the Geo Method, but I can tell you that I started using Calgon Water softener and without using any kind of
wand or hose, my black water gauge is starting to work! Albeit slowly, I think I will get it clean...
2002 30 ft. Springdale, Started out at home and used about half a bottle of the water softener, filled the tank about half way with water and used a good squeeze of dawn dish soap. It had a good 2 hrs to slosh around the first time...
Then we towed for Memorial day weekend, added water, flushed out the tank before leaving and added more of the same. We then drove about 40 minutes to our seasonal place and I can tell you that I have not had the slight toilet smell that we have had for years. Every time we dump the tank I add about half a bottle of the water softener and a bit of dawn and so far I am very happy not having a "slightly stinky" bathroom when we head up to the lake. Whoever posted this method also was correct when they say lots and lots of water...
Even if the exhaust fan is on, and you happen to flush, I don't get the smell I used to. Have not used toilet chemical at all this year.
Calgon Water softener is $5.34 at my Walmart for 1 qt. Give it a try, I would recommend it based on my results... Good luck.

You don't need that much calgon. One capful will do it. We use laundry detergent because it is less sudsy but I am sure either will work. This is the geo method recipe I use. I use the bleach sometimes but not all of the time, I adjusted down the amount of calgon to 1 capful and it has worked well for us. We do still rinse the tank but it rinses to clear coming out pretty quickly.
Wow, thanks for all the great replies. I'm taking it out this weekend for a 3 night jaunt, I'm going to try the water softener first, since I have some in my laundry room. If that doesn't cut it, I'll try that with the ice. Before that, I'll use a want and hose and just clean it out real good. This trailer was parked in an RV park with a constant hook up, so I'm sure that didn't help, the black tank was never moving much.
As for the a/c, it is a single roof unit. Once it kicks on, I have two settings...hi and low fan speeds, as well as auto or on mode. When on auto mode, and set the thermostat, regardless of fan speed, when the temp gets to where it's supposed to be, the fan stops, but the compressor still runs.
As for the range, i'll pull the top and look for a regulator as well as kinked lines, I'm also running a brush and will run air compressor around the exterior of the furnace, try to clean it up a tad...again, this was a full time in an RV park...so it's use wasn't typical, and I'm sure that has much to do with the issues it has had.
Thanks again for all the input, the people and the fun are why I got back into RV'ing to start with and this forum just confirms that!!!
UPDATE - Did a little research, after lifting the lid to my Magic Chef 4 burner stove, it was determined that it is a 22RA 4Z....and on the right hand side closest to the right front burner is a regulator...no kinked lines that I can find, but I'm going to strongly look at the regulator. However, it aint cheap at $90!! Ouch!
Don't even bother with the black tank indicator. I'd estimate that 90% of them, and that's a conservative estimate, don't work correctly. And the other 10% are only accurate part of the time. Just look down the toilet and you can tell if it's full or not.
I've seen some people report here that the exterior type indicators work but I have no experience with those myself.
