All has gone well for some time. Suddenly stopped downloading my mail as of last Thursday. I have closed all programs and restarted the Iphone as I had to do once before. No luck. Any suggestions?? I fear a trip to the Verizon store is in my future.................  In the RV and no Verizon store anywhere near me today. THANKS for any hints of fixes out there. (Other than a suggestion to change to Droid!!)

More than likely an issue with your phones carrier.

I have this occaisionally with my EVO... I have to delete the email account from my phone...and reinstall it. Pain...but it works.

Turn the phone off for 15 seconds and then power it back up. Basically just a reboot. That worked for me last week! Good luck.

Ditto on the turn phone off (hold down button at top of phone for several seconds), then wait 15 seconds and turn back on. You actually need to do this periodically to update software anyway.

Have you checked your mail settings ?? Settings / mail ? I doubt a hard reset will solve your problem but it can't hurt. My bet is your mail settings aren't right somehow ... Password etc

Reset did not work. Tried the local yokel Verizon store in Sheridan WY who basically said............"I dunno" and handed me back the phone. GREAT customer service. Sigh.
I will wait until I get past a business convention next week as I need the phone MORE than I need email which I can get on the laptop.
So, if I uninstall the Mail program that came on the IPhone4 - where do I get it, ITunes store?, - and what is it called? Anyone help here? Appreciate you all trying to help me.

You can't uninstall mail. Instead copy down the Mail settings then nuke that mail account and input it again and see if it works.

Gmail had a very recent update for IOS. Can you access email through the browser?
