The tube on the bottom of the jack slides out of the tripod. You can also slide the tube off of the threaded "jack". Everything but the tripod tucks away, neatly on the camper. I have seen several Avion campers with these jacks. You can tell, even if the jacks are missing, if they have the little receiver pieces that hold the jack horizontal under the wing of the camper during travel. The nice part is that they are way out of the way when traveling. This Avion isn't the only camper my family has ever owned, and I have seen the damage of a torn off vertical jack. The ones that hang down can get torn off really easy.
The only thing that could make these jacks better is to have a vinyl, rubber, or other substance, accordian style cover that covers the treaded rod. Kind of like what covered the forks on old dirt bikes. It can get dirty if you lubricate them.
It does make sense that the camper jack manufacturer could have bought some of the parts from another jack manufacturer who already had the gears. I know Avion didn't make the jacks, but may have supplied them. I remember going with my dad and grandfather when they picked up the camper from Barger Trailer Sales in Sun City, AZ. It may not have been right in Sun City, but it was on west Grand Avenue. They had two Avion campers on the lot that sat there for a long time. My dad and grandfather picked out the one that had the layout they liked best. As I recall, they had two floor plans on display. Both campers on the lot had the same kind of jacks. I remember my grandfather trying, (without success) to get another crank handle.
The red stickers are still on the jacks, I just can't read them. I think I need to call Cayo.

Ticki2, I called Cayo and they told me that the fatory jacks were Bock, which were bought out by Reico Titan (spelling ?) I know that this camper came with these jacks from the dealer, so it must have been a dealer upgrade. I do know that I have never seen a heavier duty, more reliable jack, that can fold up the way that they do. I wish that I could read the tag, but the AZ sun has totally faded out the wording.
When I get the camper back together, and the jacks refinished, I will post some pictures of them folded up under the camper wing.
If anyone has an idea of what brand these are, please let me know.
The boch/rieco jacks also fold up as yours do . You take out one bolt , swing them up , and catch them in the metal hoop that is attached to the camper . Many other camper brands did the same thing , most all where the jack supports were under the wings . Out of curiosity I will keep my eye out for the style jack that you have . Good luck in your search .
Note to garry . I noticed on your recent camping trip you left your jacks down . You can swing them up for travel as described above . If the hoops are gone you can probably still see the holes where they were attached . Would be simple to make .
I noticed a casting name on the pieces that hold the jacks in the horizontal position, under the wings. It says, "LAJACK". I don't know if that was the maker of the jack, or just those cast pieces. I'll bet that it was the jack manufacturer.
Knowing that Avion campers only came with Bock (Reico Titan) jacks and my camper came with different jacks I decided to find pictures of Avion campers with these jacks. It appears that my jacks are not the only ones out there.
Maybe my camper isn't the only one that came this way, or maybe independent dealers changed new jacks for different ones. I just can't see a dealer changing new jacks on a new camper. Maybe someone out there has more info. Maybe they were an "option". My dad is still around and he was there when the camper was first purchased. In fact, he was part owner of it when it was new. I'll see if he can remember anything. At least I'm not making up these jacks. LOL
I still would like to find an extra jack handle. I see one in that picture.LOL I wonder where it is?

I have found a few more.
They seem to be too common to be an add on dealer option. They also seem to be more common on the older campers. At least that is where many of the pictures show them.
I am begining to think that they were a factory jack on the older campers and my camper was built using left over stock. I could be wrong, but once I started checking pictures on the internet, there are a lot of them out there.
Maybe some of our resident Avion experts will chime in.
