This time of year, you almost always have to make reservations, Or have a back up plan,, Tried mid week to go to the coast, most places were full, Dillons Beach had an opening but it is open camping in a field next to the dunes, really packed!!
Had to inland a ways to get a nice spot.
So now we always make sure we can get in by reserving first!
We make reservations. We are limited on travel time due to we both work full time jobs. Anytime we travel reservations are made. Whether its camping or flying to a destination. We look forward to the day when we can do some traveling without the reservations.

we always reserve sites. the only time we didn't was the last 2 nights returning home from 3 weeks across country. we knew were were going from WY to NJ on route 80. Once we got on the road in the morning, hubby figured out how many miles he was going to drive then I called ahead to a campground in that area to see if they had an open site. in general we pull into campgrounds after dinner so don't want to take our chances that late in the day.
