My sis and her boyfriend purchased a new trailer and picked it up recently. Wife and I went w/ them not only to familiarize ourselves w/ it, but to videotape the PDI for them for future reference. Part way thru their PDI, the Mgr/co-owner tells the wife that due to company policy, no video taping is allowed. So while she "stopped" taping using the viewfinder, the camera kept rolling. Not sure what all was taped and how it turned out as we haven't reviewed it ourselves.

Have read on here that videotaping is the way to go as sooooo much info if being tossed at you in short amount of time that you're bound to forget what all was said/done/shown. Has anyone experienced this as well? Dealer in the right? What could have we done to say to him otherwise? My sis and BF are totally new and have no clue to things when it comes to RV's, that's why we went along cause we w/o a doubt will be assisting them all summer long.

This action by the dealer kinda soured the mood and none of us were any to happy.

Your thoughts.

Thnx.

If they won't let you videotape the PDI I'd say the deal is off. Never pay until after the PDI and any problems are fixed.

There are some tribes around the world that don't want their pictures taken or to be video taped. Something about their soul won't go on to the promised land?? What tribe did the dealer come from?

I'd have walked away. If I can't video the PDI then they are hiding something. No way, no how.

Likely that it's an example of a Dealer who is still recovering from some kind of lawsuit or action due to his lying cheating behavior in the past!

I suspect they've had too many instances were instead of paying attention to what they're saying, the customer is fooling around with their camera. Sounds like a sound policy to me. It's also probably that if the presenter says anything that was unintentional or incorrect, it MIGHT be used to try and constitute a guarantee where none is supposed to exist. For example he says you push this button to open the slide (and mistakenly pushes the scard light button instead) then the customer may try and REQUIRE them to make the light switch open the slide room.
