The ice maker in my full size Frig now makes a large tray of "block ice" . The temperature is - 10° but the ice cubes are mostly melted into one large block of ice. Could the ice maker be letting water trickle into the large ice cube catcher ?

Anyone had this problem ?

Ice makers only produce partially frozen cubes. So it is totally normal if you are not ising them up fast enough.

Ice makers in fridge make fully frozen cubes only since the cycle is set to discharge cube when temperature between -5 and -10 is achieved. If the ice cube are normal size when dropped in to container check for a small leak in the fill tube or tube is not setting right letting water drip down during fill cycle.
The only other thing would be a bad water valve that sticks open but that would result in ice maker over flowing on the fill cycle and making very large cubes.

The ice maker is set to dump the ice at 13 degrees f. If your freezer is that cold its tripping the icemaker thermostat befor the ice gets frozen all way through. It should only be 5 to 0 degrees for it to work correctly. we do warranty work on whirlpool. Also if the freezer is below 0 it will cause the freezer door to sweat and rust. Set the fresh food control on 3 and wait 24 hrs.
