I have a Lippert hydraulic leveling and slide unit. My owners manual and all the additional literature NO where mention the Lippert system. My reservoir was a little low so I bought a couple of quarts of hydraulic fluid and filled it up. I later went to the Lippert website and their recommendations were to use Type-A, ATF fluid. Should I drain the reservoir and refill with ATF Type-A fluid ??

Thanks!

Trans fluid is essentially hydrualic fluid.
Lippert says you can use Dextron III or Mercon IV.

I think you should be OK.

Like a brake system, unless you have a leak it should not need toping off.

The only concern that I would have with using hydraulic fluid and not ATF would be the viscosity. If it is too heavy it may affect the cold weather operation of the unit.

Best advice! You don't need our assurances or disagreement with what you have done. ASK Lippert.

I have a couple of tractors, a log splitter and a commercial ZT lawn cutter with hydraulic drive. All call for ISO 32 grade fluid in summer. All have significantly more complex hydraulics than my MH.

You must check with your manufacturer to be certain. Either way, I use ISO 32 tractor grade fluid in my MH without concern . The reason is simple: Slides and jacks run for such a short periodic of time, heat buildup not a problem. Multi-grade fluid is overkill - so is high heat fluid like ISO 100 (and inappropriate for other reasons). To be honest, ATF fluid is really over doing it too.

You can buy plenty of alternatives but recognize that your MH hydraulics are light-weight, low-cycle devices where hydraulic fluid demands are minimal.
