My cheap bathroom door lock broke. I need to replace it although I don't know if I can use a standard home lock. I don't need a lock for the door, just new door knobs. Can I do this?

I had the same problem on my old TT. I was able to pick up a new handle at Ace Hardware that fit. It was also a much better quality handle.

Just replaced both the bathroom door and the bunkhouse door locksets after the knob(s) fell off. Home Depot Kwikset passage locksets were direct replacement for mine. Didn't need to remove the latch assembly, just the knobs. About 2 minutes to replace everything.

I used a regular household knob when mine broke. I had to modify the hole in the door a little, but it turned out just fine.

Do you really need to lock the bathroom door? We took the lock off the bathroom door in our stick house. That avoided those nasty situations when someone locked themselves in the bathroom accidentally.

No don't want one. We bought one from Wally Mart and it now needs modification. I didn't want to do that so I was hoping for some alternatives.

Most residential locksets are for a 1 3/8 - 1 3/4 inch thick door..They also come in 2 common backsets 2 3/8 or 2 3/4 inch - this is the measurement from the edge of the door to the center of the lock hole, some have an adjustable latch for both backsets..Most are for a 2 1/8 inch diameter bore - hole in the door for the lock body..

Same problem with our bathroom lock. I bought one from Wallyworld and used parts from the old lock and the new lock. Very little modification. Works great. No lock ever again on the br door!

Passage locksets are on mine. I also added a door stopper so when it is open all the way (I leave the door open unless the TT is hitched or the bathroom is in use so air can circulate.), the doorknob will not make a hole in the wall.
