Just out of curiosity...saw a lot of pop-ups at the state park this weekend, and got to wondering--how can a trailer that folds flat have a full-height solid entry door when set up? do they come off the hinges and get stowed somewhere when the trailer is packed up for travel?

Most store as a one piece frame on the ceiling of the pop-up, and you bring it down and attach it to the door fame usually with velcro strips.

SOme are one piece frams and door, others are the upper portion of the screen door which attaches to the lower swing open solid door.

Yes the door is fixed on a upper hinge that swings up and is latched into place when folding up. Then the roof is on a crank system, and is cranked up or down.

The beds are on a slide, so they easily slide in and out.
Hope this helps.

A good NUMBER of them do not HAVE a one piece door. The top half only raises up and stores against the ceiling and the bottom half in hinged just like any other door. The two pieces connect together after the roof is raised. I've actually never SEEN a solid, one piece door on a pop up but I'm sure they do exist.

Yep, Colemans have them (if not others- I've only owned + have seen Colemans). As described above, the whole door frame stows hanging from the ceiling when travelling and then sets down into a groove when setting up w/ clips at the ceiling to hold it into place. The cloth then velcros to the sides of the frame.

My Starcraft 14RT door is a two part door... Top half of the door separates and hinges up and held in place on the bottom of the ceiling with TURN BUTTONs...

Took me a couple of years to find out what to call the TURN BUTTONs...

The bottom part of the door stays with the lower part of the trailer.

Most of the recent (read, last decade) PUPs have single-piece doors. I haven't seen anything of the canvas/vinyl models of recent vintage with multi-part doors. They may exist, but I haven't seen one. Jaycos, Fleetwood/Coleman, Starcrafts and Palominos use single-piece doors. But not everything
The only recent exception I've seen is on a Palomino, but not even all of them use two-piece doors. It varies by model.

We have a Jayco popup that we bought new in 2008. It is an 8 foot box (I think) and it has a two piece door. It hinges on the lower part and stores on the ceiling when the popup is closed.
