My wife and I will be living in my RV with two small children for several months. There is no place for me to hook up the black tank to. We are able to use restrooms in a family member's house during the day, but at night it is a different story. I am trying to limit the bathroom usage at nights, but with the little one's it may be a problem. In order for me to dump the black tank it will be a huge hassle to get the RV out of the parking spot and drag it a few miles to dump it. With this being said I would like to keep from dumping the black tank as little as possible. What can I do to eliminate the odor from the black tank while it sits in 85 - 95 degree heat for weeks before being dumped?

Thanks!

That's a great idea.. - provided you're at a house where the owner won't mind you pumping sewage into a utility sink or toilet.

Between tank dumps when it hot, I use a cup of laundry soap and pour it in the toilet. It will keep the stink down for a week or so. I think DD bought Gain somewhere on sale, other use Tide, I just use the cheapest I can find.

First, you've got to teach the little whackers to use TONS of water when they flush, not like a home toilet. You're saying 'it will be a huge hassle to get the RV out of the parking spot and drag it a few miles to dump it': pick your troubles -- hassle to dump or odor while you sleep. Extra deodorant will help, but making sure extra water will be just as good.

how far are you from a house with a sewer clean out. you can buy a sewer solution and run the discharge hose to the clean out and empty your black tank that way. I use one at my house for weekend guest. I bought some one inch PVC pipe and hooked it up and it worked. It takes a little while to dump a full black tank but it's better than dragging the TT to a dump station

There shouldn't be any odor except for when flushing. To reduce the odor at that time do NOT operate the bath exhaust fan. If you have odor other than when flushing you have a problem and need to fix the plumbing.

"My wife and I will be living in my RV with two small children for several months."

Several months........you will be dumping tanks...black & grey
Options:
once a week drag trailer out and down to a dump station
once a week fill tote, drag down to dump station..repeat/repeat
use a twist on macerator to pump tanks into family/friends home sewer (septic) clean-out/utility sink in garage/thru window into toilet.

We stayed at my sisters for several months while she recouped......used a macerator to pump 75' up a 2' incline. Worked like a champ. o moving rig/no hassling with full totes.

Pick your option.

As to the odors.....Re-read 'beemerphile1' post. Shouldn't be any odors.

Or the clean out that is on the outside of every house. It works great for me at my house when I return home or camping in a friends driveway.
