It was 115 degrees when we pulled in but it didn't feel that hot and as the sun went down it was quite nice.
It's the oddest sand I have ever seen. You can walk on the dunes without sinking in like the dunes back home.

OH MAN, you make me miss home. We lived in Alamogordo and that was the best time of my life. Do they still have the movie cart where they show educational movies at night? You can definitely see the stars out there at night. At the visitor center they have the story of the woman who got lost from her caravan back in the 1800s and her ghost still roams the dunes. That story always freaked me out when I was 8 or 9. I could go on forever about the most beautiful place on earth. My bedroom window looked towards the northwest, so I always looked at Sierra Blanca, Cloudcroft and I could even See Sunspot which is the observatory for researching the sun. There is so much there to see, I hope you got to see a lot. The Space Museum and planetarium were always our school field trips. Great pics you brought a tear to my eye.

It's not sand even though they call the place White Sands. It's actually powered gypsum. Very firm yet it blows & drifts like sand. Sure sticks tight to truck & trailer.

We didn't have a good sled but we had a skim board. That was funny.
