Gang,
Thinking about getting a toy hauler and one thing that bothered me was standard equipment is a generator. The way we camp there would never be a need for the gen set. So I found out the Vengeance 306 does not come standard with the gen set however it is prepped for one if I wanted to add it. I gues my question is : Is there any downside to not having a genset in my scenario?

When the day comes to sell, having no generator would be viewed as a significant negative. On the other hand, a generator with no running hours would be viewed as a significant positive.
It also gives you backup if there is a power failure.
And, you may change the way you camp in the future.

I have an Onan 4000 in mine and rarely use it but it sure came in handy last winter at home when we lost power for a few days.

We have one and never use it except to exercise it. If you don't need it it's not worth the extra money and hassle. Especially with today's "gas". IMHO

I am on my 3rd RV and have had trouble with the generator in every one. In fact, if I need the generator to run air on a hot day, I can be confident it will not operate properly because none of the three earlier ones ever have. So as an emergency back-up, the generator, certainly the Onan types, has not done the job.
In the future, I intend to delete the installed generator in favor of a portable model. At least if the portable one causes trouble, I can easily remove it to the garage or repair shop for attention.

In all of my camping I have never lost power or water during any of my trips. If i lose power at home I have a generator that i could easily hook to if needed. Like someone mentioned above I think it would be more of a hassle to run it and keep clean gas in it.
