I'm trying to decide on what size and brand generator to go with when we swap to a 5th wheel. I've been spoiled with the 6.5k in our motorhome but I'm thinking a 2k is what I would need. I would like a quiet one like a honda or yamaha but I don't want to break the bank but I also don't want one that is noisier than a chainsaw and annoying the neighbors. Please tell me what you are using and your opinions on them. thanks.
Enjoying what life brings me everyday.

We have the Honda 2K but the Yamaha 2K or 2.4K are just as good. the 2.4K is claimed to be able to run a a/c unit. We ended up with the Honda since the Yamaha was out of stock. The Honda has more after market items available like being able to add an aux gas tank if you need really long run times.

Depends on how much power you need. If you just want to run micro or charge batteries and the like a Honda 2000 works great. If you want a full 30 amp, AC and misc get a second 2000 with a paralell kit. These are light and easy to move around. Another option is the Honda 3000 it will do the same as the two mentioned but is not so easy to move around.

I can't decide between the twin Honda/Yamaha 2000 and a single Yamaha 2400.

It depends on what color you like more, red or blue. Get a pair of red or blue 2K units if you plan on running AC along with other items.

I'm thinking we'll be good with a 2k. We rarely use the ac even in the campgrounds with elec. I have seen other brands like Generac and Ryobi and I was wondering if they are as quiet and dependable. I know the Honda and Yamaha are the best but they are also quite expensive.

We have the Yamaha 2400. We sized it mainly for backup power at home, so I wanted it large enough to run the refrigerator and boiler. It would run the 13.5K ac in our first fifth wheel but liked it better if the converter wasn't pulling a lot of power. We never use the AC when boondocking so it is mainly used to charge the batteries. But we can thaw out frozen stuff in the microwave while charging. It weighs about 75 pounds so it is easy enough for us to move into and out of the truck bed.
I am sure that the same things can be said about the Hondas, and the Hondas have a fuel pump to facilitate the adding of an aux fuel tank. I find that the Yamaha will run sufficiently long on the onboard fuel capacity.
These two do cost more than something like the Champions, and I personally have no first hand knowledge of these types generators, though there are enough people that really like them.
Good luck with your search.
