Guys i have never been to Myrtle Beach and i have never really camped in a campground other than some atv campgrounds, but i am thinking ov taking a Road Trip to Mrytle Beach SC, what campground do you all recommend in myrtle beach, close to beach, safe, that allows alcohol, i would love to hear from you all!! i heard the KOA there was rough!!! but i have no idea, very inexpericenced on this so cant wait to hear what u all got to say!!! thanks
I may be a little biased having grown up in the proximity of North Myrtle Beach. That said....My choice is Myrtle Beach Travel Park.. Easy in and out. Close to Calabash, NC or several fine restaurants on Restaurant Row. Walmart and other shopping close by.
MBTP is our choice as well, we stay there every year around the 1st of June. This year the weather was a little bad, but we can't do anything about that.

The "Big 4" are Ocean Lakes, Lakewood, Pirateland, and Myrtle Beach Travel Park. They are all great campgrounds...just depends on what suits you best. Some folks base it on golf cart usage, size of pool, etc...There are also more "parksy" options such as Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park, both also excellent choices...not necessarily as "close" to the water as the resorts, though (may require a short walk or drive). You really can't go wrong with any of them...I always tell people to try a different one each trip. One thing is for sure, though...many people are VERY loyal to their favorite!!! LOL
We personally have been to all of the Big 4, and MBTP suits us best, due to location and atmosphere. IF you want more detailed descriptions/opinions, there are plenty available on here. ENJOY!!!
Although Ocean Lakes is nice the one thing that I did not like was that all the sites by the ocean faced the same way in that your awning is facing the ocean. There is always a breeze coming off the ocean so you really have to keep an eye out on your awning. At Lakewood and Pirateland you can get sites that do not face the ocean. No matter which place you pick you have to be aware of the weather. A storm can come out of no where and it does not take much to rip the awning off the trailer. Seen it many times there.
