Saw an older F150 today that had a 7700 badge on the tailgate. First time noticing one like that. They should stamp the GVWR on the outside of all trucks.

Why? It's just a number drawn out of a hat according to some folks here
It is pretty meaningless to LEO's .
I do like the B20 on the Superduties though

So when I'm on a lot looking for one with the HD payload cap it will be easier to find.

That was a good old "heavy-half" truck.

If the manufacturers did have the GVWR on the side of the trucks we'd have a lot more fun as weight police

My brothers Ram says "FIAT" on the tailgate. Anyone can put anything, and it still means nothing.

NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!! I would not want anything stamped on any part of the outside of the truck.
Some dealers still put rear bumpers on the truck with their name stamped into the rear bumper!
Now, that's UGLY to me.
I don't get paid to advertise the dealer so I don't want anything displayed for them.
Even when I get a super deal I won't advertise, but I will spread the word by mouth.
Good Luck & Drive Safe!

Just look for the 7-lug wheels.

All HD model F150's have the 7-lug wheels, regardless of what they're named for that particular model year. In '97, they were named 'F250'. Shortly after, they were renamed 'F150 7700'. After that they were renamed 'F150HD', but the badge on the side doesn't say 'HD'. Now they are called 'F150 Max Payload Package', but it doesn't say Max Payload anywhere on the truck.

The 7-lug wheels are the dead giveaway. The non-HD models don't have the 7-lug wheels, they're 5-lug or 6-lug.

It's a shame Fiat's tailgates is about the same quality as the Tundra's tailgate and GM for that matter... And we all know about those nasties!

Enjoy...

Fiat Tailgate

Edit... Actually this tailgate is probably on Cerebus or maybe Daimler Chrysler?
