Two Sprinters have made our short list. The '06 has 20,518 miles in it. The '07 has 45,000 miles. Both seem very clean, well maintained (service records provided) and in very good condition. Asking price on the '06 is $49,500 and on the '07 $53,000. Both have some wriggle room. I am somewhat partial to the '06 but like them both. I would love your opinions please! Any questions I should ask the sellers? Anything I should look for?
Thanks!

Obviously, the 06 has been used a lot less - but that is not always a good thing. I would want to have both vans checked out by a mechanic. Once you come to which of the two - get the one you want to a mechanic that knows Sprinters. Also - get the vin and put it through to CarFax and get a report - it is worth the money to know the vehicle's record.
Has the 06 owner said why there is less than 2518 miles on a six year old van? I can put that on in just three trips. Less than 3000 miles is just so unbelievable...

Thank you for your quick reply. Apparently I'm a moron, as the mileage should be 20,518. I'll edit my original post. Thanks again!

We have a 2006 Sprinter with about 25,000 miles on it. Absolutely no problems with it.
Ask to see all service records for both vehicles.
The 2006 has the 5 cylinder engine meaning that it will have better fuel economy but slightly less power than the 2007 which has a 6 cylinder. We have been very satisfied with the power on our unit and have never been in a situation where we felt like we needed more. That includes extensive touring in the Rockies.

I agree. We also have an 06 with 25,000 miles. It's a Leisure Travel Free Spirit LSS and it has been an exceptional vehicle. We just returned from a 2600 mile trip around the Southwest - almost all of it in the mountains. We averaged a solid 23mpg for the entire trip. We actually got over 25mpg on one 450 mile section over Gore Pass.

Two different animals in the Sprinter. The 06 is a 5 cylinder old style Sprinter and the 07 is the new more powerful engine along with other improvements.
BUT if you're looking at a MH you may be looking at 05 and 06, ( Titled 06, 07 MH ) if that's the case they should be the same chassis.

Merry,
Can you tell us who converted the Sprinters and tell us the interior design. Are they the same?
Not that it makes any difference under the hood... just interested.
Ask if the resonator has been replaced. That's a fairly common weakness in the engine design that will cause headaches when it fails, and they all fail from time to time in Sprinters.

Have to agree with the others who suggested the '06. I have an '07 ('06 chassis) RT RS Adventurous with 53K on it and it's been great. Consistently 22-23 MPG and has been as high as 26. No experience with the newer, six cylinder, engine, other than to read the mileage is down in the 17-18 range. The specs say the five cylinder is rated at 158 BHP, and we have found that to be more than adequate, even when towing a 12' tandem axle utility trailer with a pair of ATVs in it.

I agree with all. Check the VIN for the manufactures date of the van, the extended start from the converter may have taken a year and the vehicles are likely the same.
We have a 06 and constantly get 22.5 average mileage here in CA.

Thanks for your replies! I will definitely check the manufacture date, thanks for that tip. I will also check about the resonator, to avoid potential 'limp home' mode!
I am trying to find a used Roadtrek or Pleasureway, but that is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. So these are actually both Winnebago Views, with the corner bed. I would really prefer a B, but will buy a B+ if I can't find a B. It's the Sprinter that's the most important to me. I love all your reports of great mileage!
