This just happened to us the other day (even though they weren't tent campers, they were fellow 5ers) they had their giant suburban bus parked partially in the road, and we couldn't back in. We had to wait over 2 hours for them to get home, and they were aggravated that the host asked them to move their bus. Now, I'm not the kinda person to get riled up much, and I didn't let it get to me, but I still say it's rude, and it is def a "me me" world now. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is as considerate as I try to be.

I wasn't that upset about it just crazy how uncommon comments sense is. It did test my skills and I treated it as a learning experience.

I had that problem once trying to back in our fiver. But it was not a van. It was the person's satellite dish sitting right at the edge of the site. After a couple of failed attempts to back in without running over his dish, I just got out and moved it. Screw em.

It happened to me several years ago but it also seems as if the campgrounds are providing less room for their roads and turns to pack in as many campers as they can for the all mighty dollar. I don't blame them for trying to turn a profit and it is my choice of where we camp but when I'm like you and not the greatest with the backing in and cause high stress to think "How am I going to get this thing in there without hitting something" Sometimes it takes a couple of people to help guide you in and I've found either the campground has people help you to your site and then add my wife with alot of yelling and instructions from all like the movie "The Long Long Trailer"--"Quiet everyone you're making this poor boy nervous" HA HA!

no one around. yup, your backing abilities were tested. hubby has easily backed in with situations I thought he never could do it but he always made it!
yes they should have pulled a bit up farther as to give people a little breathing room. sometimes things like this don't occur to people. just happens.

My, how offended we become over various things of apparently little consequence. Thicken up the ole dermis once in a while.

I’m going to chime in on the side of the OP. If – and it’s a big IF - the scenario was as I picture it, I can think of no good reason for any part of the van to have been sticking out into the road.

I agree. sticking out in the road is plain stupid. maybe they 'want' it to get hit

Minor annoyance for the OP but could be a matter of life or death if an emergency vehicle cannot get by at O dark thirty. You cannot park in the road as that is not part of your site.
