I finished my installation on my Norcold 1200 and it is cooling very well. It has been running for 5 hours and the temp is 25 deg. in the freezer and coming on down. The outside temp 93. Thanks to all who posted on here, because without your help I could not have done this.

out of curiosity; Tell us how long it took, did you have help, what was the hardest part to do, any problems you ran into and what skill level you think is needed to do an install.

I spent about 3 days doing the install but I spent a lot of time double checking and making sure I was doing everything right. My DW helped me with fitting the cu in place and my DB helped slide it back in place. The cooling fans were mounted different and the fire box was a little different, but a call to David Force at rv cooling unit warehouse got me back on track. If does come with some difficulty, but it is mostly physical. The technical part was being sure that you mark ALL wires and seal the unit in place. I am far from a mechanic and 69 years old and I made it fine.

Thanks. It sounds like any shade tree mechanic could handle it.

There are positives to the Amish unit.
But one of the most savviest individuals I know on the tiffinrvnetwork has indicated problems with the Amish cooling units when installing in friends MHs.
The Amish units are built by people and people are fallible. I wish you luck if this is your choice but do not assume this is a panacea because of the word "Amish". It is just people even if they are well meaning people.

DanTheRVMan do you have a point to make or just repeating gossip?
If you will read on RV net you will learn Pines RV Refrigeration can build a cooling unit that can fail but you would also read they will ship you another one if that happens.
War Eagle just replaced an cooling unit that was known to be defective in design by Norcold when they sold it new. He just replaced on that has created RV deaths in a direct or indirect way most agree. He just replaced a known problem with a known solution.
Again do you have a point to make? RV Pines does not claim they are built by infallible people. The name 'Amish' has no more magical powers than does BMW but most agree German craftsmen are known to produce good products for the most part and get copied around the world.
The Amish designed cooling units are known to be a quality product by many who have installed them.

Good job Warr Eagle. I'm your age and I did mine with no issues. The only help I had was pulling it out and putting it in. It cools far better than the Norcold, this is super col, and with the five year warrentee I'm a happy camper.

I ordered my cooling unit from rvcoolingunit.com and since I was attending the Fleetwood rally in Goshen, IN I decided to have it installed at the Amish factory in Shipshewana and purchased the factory install option. The install only took them 4 hours and the results are simply amazing. The Ice maker was dropping ice an hour later.
I had what I thought was a circuit board issue because the unit was not working on auto and had a NO AC beep that required several attempts before working on AC and when I dropped it off would not light on gas. Since they stocked the dinosaur circuit boards my instructions when I left were to replace anything required.
These folks are all about customer service, even offering me the option of dry camping at their shop over the weekend since I was arriving 2 days before my Monday appointment.
Anyway, when I came back 4 hours later the fridge was working perfectly, was already down to 6 degrees in the freezer and 48 in the fridge, with no additional charges or parts required. Now that I think back the fridge started the above behavior after the first recall.
3 days later, all is well and I got "brain freeze" from drinking Ice Tea stored in the BOTTOM of the fridge.
