Can anyone tell me what difference it makes to FCC whether you have a DISH receiver in your house, and take it with you on the road, or buy one and use it on the road.
We're changing to DISH from DTV because DTV screwed up ... won't go into detail, but staff really needs training.
Anyway, without calling DISH yet (because we want a real answer) can we order DISH for the house, and then take it on the road and get whatever we get at home except the local networks.
OR, do we need to get home DISH and RV-DISH - I know we have to buy the set-up for the RV-DISH, but why not use that one at home too, and just have one account - even use the RV account at home, like a stable RV ... very confusing. Thx M44
Neither Dish nor DirecTV can tell where your receiver is located. If you take a receiver from your house and use a comparable antenna, you can receive the same channels in your RV and you do at home with the exception, if you drive out of the spot beam, you will not receive locals.
The trouble arises when you want to add DNS to the home account.
I do it all the time and if I plan to be in an area for a week or more I call dish and have the locals changed to the CG address. That way I have local area weather and news.
You do need an antenna that is portable and figure how to set it up but it is not a big deal and once you do it a few times it gets easer.
I bought our second antenna at a thrift store for $5.

Establish the account as an RV account and then get an additional antenna for the either the house or RV. That way you can change the locals every time you change location, by simply going on line or calling the special Dish RV customer service number (888-309-0370) and giving them your current zip code to change your "service" address. This is what we do and have done for years. It works and Dish works with you to make sure it does.

We have a Vue Vube 1000 now, and used it on the road with DTV, but couldn't get much. DTV said it was because we didn't have Internet service ... but that's gotta be BS, not many have internet service beyond hot-spots on the road, and if you use that for TV, you'd use up your monthly allowance in an hour. We have Verizon card
WE had quite a few channels at home (lotta c..p too) but on the road, became mostly selling stuff channels and one movie channel ... We don't watch a lot, but want what we pay for.
For those that have DISH, do you get 'on-demand' movies?
Don't mean PPV, just looking for the archived movies you can call up when you want them.
I have never tried "on demand movies", but I have used the Dish Interactive for the local weather. I have the Carry Out for an antenna, and have had no issues over the last 4 years that we have had the service for the coach.
Get it for the house and bring with you and "don't ask, don't tell" about RV.

It makes NO DIFFERENCE to the FCC! Of course, DISH wants to get as much money from you as they can, and continuously makes/changes terms and conditions to do that.
