Some years back I seem to remember some sort of requirement for locks for a motorhome's slideouts in order to be allowed into Canada. Is that still in effect?

We have owned two Dutch Stars and always use the slideout lock arms. I figure they are there for a reason. I think your RV tech needs to call Newmar for the correct information before giving his personal advice. Whats your opinion?

we previously had a TT with side out bars, and we did use them. Our 5th wheel did not come with them. Therefore, we don't use anything, never had a problem and we bought the unit in Canada.

Never heard of it. Our 5th wheel didn't even come with any kind of locks. I know it's not a motorhome but I can't imagine there would be any difference.

They are not interested in slide out locks at the border...trust me. They have way more important stuff to go after like guns, tobacco, drugs, guns, liquor, guns, fruits and vegetables, guns and meats. Oh and did I mention guns?

Never heard of any such law or regulation. I have not used slideout locks on any rv.
The border folks are certainly not interested in anything to do with rv's other than their legal ownership and contents.
