If you have the time and are so inclined to use it in the following manner, this will at least get you on THEIR do not call list. To a telemarketer, time is money and wasting theirs' is one of the best things you can do.

Foremost, feign interest in whatever they're pushing. Make your interest sound as sincere as possible. Ask as many questions as you can think of but make them sound legitimate. Speak slowly. You are very interested but not clear about the offer and confused about some points. Your acting has to be spot on, as a good telemarketer can easily detect a phony. The TM's job is to excite you about whatever he/she is selling. It's called "selling the sizzle, not the steak". YOUR job is to excite the TM's by making them believe that they have a live one on the hook. If you can manage to keep one going for 30 minutes, you might be nominated for an Academy Award.

When you've finally had enough and the TM asks one last time if you're ready to order (or some variant on that theme) make certain that your last words are: "Oh, I have absolutely no interest in "X", I've just been messing with you". After the 'click' you may rest assured that it will be followed by a string of profanities and perhaps even flying objects in that persons' little space.

It may not be worth your time to go that route, but it can be fun and challenging. And yes, I've been both the telemarketer and the telemarketee.

I've gotten several of these type calls. I don't remember the numbers but have found out it does no good to complain to Verizon or AT&T.
Do not call list are meaningless.
I was given a different number to stop persistent calls from some collection agency under different names in Iowa. I subesequently was given another virgin number. Several days ago I got one, of these calls, from the same outfit. They want the guy to push a number if he is not available or please hold the line and so on. I talked to someone with the outfit over a year ago and told them I was on the do not call list and did not know anything of the individual and told them I would pursue legal action if they persisted. It seems their robo dialer must be calling every number in America.

That is exactly what the robo-dialers do. They are not selling merchandise or any kind of service.

Those people are criminals and don't care about things like 'do not call lists'. All they want is to steal from you.

Most of them are not in the U.S. A lot of them are in Nigeria or Ghana. The number that comes up in the caller ID is 'spoofed'.

You want to complain? Complain to Hillary Clinton! Tell her we want an extradition treaty with those countries.

Scamming Americans is the number two industry in Nigeria.

I just don't answer the phone anymore. Unless I know someone is trying to reach me from that number.

If I have time and in a good mood, I do what noplace2 suggests. I talk to them, try to give them information that is believeable or real, and ask them to repeat some things I do not seem to understand about the offer. I have talked to one for about 30 minutes before I have to bust out in laughter and tell them I was just wasting their time. Most of time I do not answer the call, but sometimes I feel a little naughty. It is fun getting ahold of a female and telling them all about the grandkids, they are such suckers for a good story.....

What's really good is tell them some good clean jokes.

On our Verizon phone I have evered at least 3 Robo numbers that have called more then once. Those we don't get any more, but there are 2 new ones that need to be added. Verizon is great providing this service which blocks numbers for 90 days.
Most numbers have been from Washington state, Oregon and at least one from Washington DC.

If the readout on the phone doesn't show a friend or family member or even a local area code it goes to Voice Mail and gets deleted from there.
Life is too short to try and answer a call that I know is bogus.

I have, in the past, Goggled some of these numbers and they have always showed a ton of requests for information and complaints.
What ever happened to personal privacy, to the point where these things a normal and excepted in everyday life?

You can tell how much research they do before they call you as we often get calls that begin "Are you worried about America's economy....."
Maybe they think that British Columbia is part of the District of Columbia!

I don't believe in astrology. I am a Gemini and
we're very skeptical.
