OP here. Well, this has turned in to quite a discussion!!! Yes, I did slow down WHILE I had to leave my lane and travel on the rough shoulder. I consider myself a pretty good driver(never had a ticket or accident), but we all have lapses. It took me a couple of seconds to recognize that the rv passing me was moving at about my speed, I saw him pull out and just assumed (my mistake) that he would go by me - not match my speed - and then to compound it by drifting, no that is too polite - by taking 1/2 my lane, too!!!! Oh, and did I mention I had one of those OVERSIZE load trucks right behind me?

I guess some folks just can't read. The guy was along side of you and veered into your lane. How is slowing down going to fix that? It's happened to me and the only recourse is the one you took - move far to the right. And slow down to get rid of the %^&*( idiot unless there is a big honking truck right on your tail. Good thing there was a shoulder there, otherwise it would have been messy.
