Sharing never really worked out for me. Maybe I don't play well with others or something.
Anyway; a 02 7.3 with super low miles!! Do you know how much that thing is worth? Big, big bucks. I bet I could find a person that would give you 25k+ for that truck. That is a very sought after truck and for good reason; they were a great truck and engine.
If you want that truck you need to get it NOW. I have heard too many "oh we sold that last week" stories. Even from family.

For the flatlands the F350 might be overkill, but if you come out west and start doing a bit of mountain driving you'll probably find the F-150 to be barely enough engine wise assuming it's got the 5.4, and depending on personal expectations to a large extent.
I've never really be one to become particularly attached to my vehicles so to me they're just tools to get a job done. I'd just sit down, put the +/- details on paper and decide based on the most logical choice for my needs.
Thanks for the input everyone!! Dad and I talked about it again today, we are not going to do anything right away. My wife is in China for 3 weeks for work, and I would probably be in the obituaries if were to do anything with out her knowing. But I may pick her up from the airport with the F350 just to see what she says...
The bad thing about me, I can't leave anything alone. I already have a shopping list of about $2000 for upgrades if we do the deal, wheels, trans cooler, T-stat, intake, exhaust.
If we did "share" the truck, we would title and insure it in my name since I would be the one using it probably 75-80% of the time or more. Then I would also drop the plates down a weight class, since dad has it plated heavy from when he used it for his excavating company.
We will see what happens...
As for buying their 5er, we just bought our new Grey Wolf this spring so we will be keeping that for atleast a couple of years. Plus the 5er isn't a bunk house, so it wouldn't work so well with our 3 yr daughter.
2004 F150 FX4, with lots of mods and way too much money dumped into the truck for said mods
2012 Grey Wolf 26BH
My dad and I trade vehicles ALL the time. His whole family is that way. Doesn't matter whose name is on the title, drive the vehicle that best needs the needs of the moment.
Can't have 2 trucks? Keep the more capable one.
Besides, F150s are a dime a dozen. Everybody has one. Just like bellybutton lint.
