Wow.

With the gas leak it could have been MUCH worse, but still that is going to be one heck of a bill.

Who on earth lets a person do a test drive by themselves?

Dealers do not, and a private sale usually would not either.

Probably told the seller they thought about it and decided to go with a different color.

Would you like to have been riding with him? It will be interesting to find out what the 'mechanical failure' was. Even so, as you point out, it's not typical to let someone test drive a vehicle by himself. Unless....maybe it was a dealer? A wholesaler, maybe, test driving a prospective purchase?

I know the house, just a few blocks away from where I live. Had he missed the house it's easily 50 - 60 ft to the houses below, ... straight down! It's a Puget Sound view home on a high bluff.

I have no idea what he was doing up there in a MH, but he's lucky the house stopped him!

That's kind of what I was thinking, Corkey. With no brakes and Puget Sound yawning before you, running into a house might be the safer option. Is that somewhere near Dash Point?

Just above Redondo Beach on the high bluff, .. about midway of the boardwalk below.

The article doesn't make it clear whether it was a pre-sale test drive or not. Maybe he was test driving the brake repairs that were just finished...
