Love this place. We have excellent dry site next door to Fishermen's Memorial and get to watch the action across the street and out our windshield. Stuff is always going on.

Drove East End Road this morning and saw lovely mountains and lots of glaciers but no animals UNTIL we got back to town. Saw mama moose with twins. She trapped herself and her babies between fences and had to work her way thru driveways and yards.

P.S. I have great pictures BUT can't get the d_mn WIFI here to allow me to upload photos (even resized). Will try to post later.

We were able to visit there on a day trip last July, neat area for sure.
View from the vista area just before entering Homer....the Spit is just barely visible:

Alaska is a neat place to visit. Hope to see some pics soon.

We took a chance on eating at Captain Patties Fish House. It was really good, at least we all enjoyed it. The views were really good out the back windows. Good choice of items, as I remember, as well.

I have the exact same picture (which I can't upload right now). We have eaten at Boardwalk Fish and Chips (good) and Happy Face (also good). We will be here a few more days and plan to try Captain Patties. We must relocate from the Spit tomorrow (all sites taken where we like) and will go up the road a piece.

We loved it, too. Had gorgeous weather when we were there which helped. Be sure to go to Pratt Museum and take a drive up on the ridge for terrific views. Have fun. Be safe!!

Got pictures uploaded and will 'try' to post here!

Well, I can't seem to make it work. I'm going thru Woodall's; I have made the pictures public! And I changed the size!

We were at the spit on 6/27. What a great place to visit. We drove from Wisconsin started on 6/1. Did some Halibut fishing earlier in the week. We are now at Seward and then on to Anchorage. If you have time visit the Salty Dog. It is the business with the light house on top. Enjoy your time in the Ak.

I've been to Homer a few times and loved it! I have a nephew who lives there. He's a nurse, licensed pilot, licensed AC inspector and has published a few books on his adventures in AK. He's now restoring a AN2 if anyone is interested in airplanes.send me a note if anyone is interested This is one of his restorations.

One thing for sure. The Halibut served in the restaurants along the Homer Spit is so fresh it will slap your face!

We were in Homer yesterday, the Spit is a really unique. The view coming into town is so beautiful. Went to Salty Dawg bar which was fun. Also Jim Shoe, we had some halibut in one of the restaurants along the spit and it was good and fresh.
Wish we would have seen the moose and her twins.
