Hi, hopefully can someone can give me the correct term I am looking for.
When you open your awning, your poles that come down and actually connect your bottom of you RV, are attached by a certain lath that is screwed into your camper on the bottom.
What are they called, I would like to purchase two and make a holder out of 2 x 6's and put 4 holes in the wood and stake it to the ground, so I can have the awnings arms straight out, instead of having those arms on a 45 degree angle and a little bit of a trip hazzard.
Or if anyone has tried this and can make a recommendation...
Thanks in advance.

I've used Awning Arm Anchors about $10 from Camping World for years. They screw into the ground and have bolts with wing nuts to attach the arm to.

Maybe I don't undertand your question, but the end of the awning arm (that goes against the trailer into the holder you seem to be describing)can be put on the ground and staked down so the arms is vertical instead of at a 45 degree angle against the TT. To make it more stable, you can attach a strap with a curved metal end that fits over the awning roller at the top and has a ratchet type tightener on the bottom end. The ratchet end is attached to a twist style stake that is "screwed" into the ground. One of these at each end of the awning does the job. There is also a thing called "the Claw". This has 4 opposing "hooks" that dig into the ground whenever any upward stress (like wind) is applied to the awning. An excellent invention! You can probably find it at CW. We have a brand new one - NEVER used - have automatic awning now and can't use it!!! Would sell it cheap to anyone who might be interested.

If your ends are like mine on the awning arms they have a hole on each side, why not just take something like 3/8" rebar and stake them down through these holes on a angle and be done with it.

When you put your awning out in the carport position you need to stake the foot as said most just use tent pegs or spikes… but you should always anchor it with good stakes and tie downs… a assortment of stakes for different soils is good to have… I carry the auger type some long and short metal drive in type, and the claw is a good one to carry…
