We don't travel with satellite and usually don't even bother to hook up to campground provided cable. If we've just got to watch tv we've got a bunch of movie DVDs, mostly classics we picked out of the bargain bin at Walmart. Collections of J.Wayne, S.Holmes, cartoons from back in the day cartoons were both funny and well animated.

A few years ago a crusty fisherman overheard me asking about internet in a resort office. I thought he was going to take me out back and beat the******out of me. I didn't think guys like that even knew what the internet was.

We boon dock and are almost never in areas with TV or cell phone coverage...
I have dish network vs directv so I picked up their "tailgater" package of a receiver and portable dish. just got home from 2 weeks camping and moving every two to three days and it was terrific to catch the news and see how much of the state was on fire. it kept us in the loop anyway.
I haven't found a decent internet solution.
I have an inverter as another mentioned, so I can run my sat and tv via batteries and not use the generator. I do not have solar (yet) so I recharge my batteries every couple of days via the generator.

You got it all wrong Shane, I camp 12 months a year and only stay in an RV Park around two months a year. Oh yea, life is great.

yes, I have six batteries, all are six volt wired so the trailer sees them as twelve volt. they fit just right and very snug next to the generator up front in that compartment.

thanks to all that responded, tv seems to be the easy part but internet access seems to be a much greater issue

I used Hughes Net when I traveled and needed internet for business reasons. Could set up almost anywhere as long as I was not under trees. Took about 10 min to set up after practice. Speed was about the same as DSL. Use MiFI now but that REQUIRES a cell tower to be reasonably close. Dish or Directv work almost anywhere.
