My wife ordered the TV4RV tripod for me to use while we are out in the 5th wheel. Wow It made all the difference in the world. With this tripod it is a breeze to setup the dish. I setup a Directv Slimline swm3 HD dish. It worked perfect and was very easy. I used dishpointer.com for the dish info and followed the instructions that came with the tripod. Anyone who is having trouble with a standard tripod, these things will change your train of thought about dreading the process of setting it up.

I think you may have the wrong link, but yeah, those tripods are nice.

And you just learned this? Did you get the folding arm kit?

I agree with the quality of this tripod and ease of aiming. I have had mine for almost 2 years now and I full time so it has been in use 24/7/365. I moved camp sites last week and after set up I had a 97% signal on DirecTV 101 before any tweaking. After a little tweak I got it up to 98%. It was almost perfect initially.

No I did not get the folding arm. I am thinking it will be coming soon though. It looks like a nice feature.

Several variants of the arm are made, so make sure you pick the right mod. You can DIY too, but the pieces aren't any cheaper than the kit.

I didn't say it didn't work. Just doesn't go directly to a picture of a tripod. No biggie.

I really don't understand this comment but from other posts I guess lots of people have trouble setting up.

I have a tripod without any gizmos. Key is to get the post perfectly vertical - oh, I do have a gizmo - it's a circular level that lives in the top of the post.

Then look at your watch, look at the sun, remember what longitude you're at, remember what longitude you sat is at and point the dish using the sun as a reference; if I'm a little further south than the last time I pointed I tip the dish back a bit and vice-versa. Wife watches signal strength on the TV and we fine tune. 5-10 minutes max with beer drinking between steps.

OK, now that I've explained it, I suppose it is too complicated for many people but it's easy for me and I get to spend all that money I would have spent on an automatic dish on beer.
