Do any of you have an opinion either way between these two? they both have a floor plan that we really like and both seem to be made well, and have found both for around the same price. Thought maybe somebody might have some experience with either of these. Also, one other question that we have is, where is the best place to purchase, would it be from a local dealer or is there a certain part of the country that is less expensive, or straight from the company??

The Coachmen Brookstone is a Forest River product. Forest River is the 2nd largest RV Manufacturer. Owned by Warren Buffet Billionaire, of the Berkshire Hathaway company.

Coachmen itself is an older 48 year old company that was bought by FR 4 years ago, and Forest River has infused new life and invested lots of money into the brand. The results are rather amazing, as Coachmen is returning to their glory days of the past, and they are building some terrific RV's.
Coachmen Owners Association

Redwood is a division of Thor..the biggest RV builder in North America, and Redwood is 2 years old and is a brand new company. They built their 1st RV in Aug. 2011 and have built over 1000 now. They also aquired the rights to the Carriage RV name, all blueprints and build plans...and Carriage was a supurb RV builder before they went under due to bad management decisions.

They also hired many of the long time Carriage employees, the finest and brightest from Carriage. And they have some pretty amazing floorplans, decor and a true luxury feel. Also, being as they are still a smaller company...and turn out their RV's relitively slowely and fit and finish appears well done...and the customer service is one on one and appears to be quite good too. The "slideouts within slideouts" are very cool!

Here is the Redwood RV Owners Forum you can read what owners say!

I don't believe either company sells directly to a customer. There are so called "RV Wholesale" dealers that have good prices, but you won't get warranty service there!

And you can search in the box above for both of those brands, and find owners on this forum you can contact.

You might also consider looking at the Jayco Pinnacle...unlike the above 5ers, Jayco has a 2 year warranty, built with 43 years of experience by the largest Family owned RV builder on Earth.

And when Jayco bought the Travel Supreme Luxury RV brand (which was the #1 builder of luxury 5th wheels) after they closed down, they gained a huge insight into how a truely great luxury 5th wheel is made. The result is the Pinnacle.

I am surprised you found them for around the same price. Either the Brookstone is too high or the Redwood is selling dirt cheap.

We looked at everything before we bought. Similiar front living room Brookstone: $55k (after discounts), and Redwood front living room $85k (after discounts).

The Redwood was nicer, and you pay for it.

These are both very nice 5th wheels. We looked at both of them before our recent purchase. The larger ones are heavy so make sure you have enough truck.

Thank you for your responses. What size truck do you think we will need to tow one of these? Thank you.

If you can buy a one ton with duel wheels do it. you will have the truck longer than the RV and don't want to be limited in choices.

Dually and go with the Redwood.
The cost of the Redwood is about $30000 more at local dealers.

You Have to look at the spec's of the camper and the spec's of the truck and match accordingly.

Liked the Redwood when we saw it at the show this spring - haven't seen the Brookstone.

The Redwood showprice was around $72 (center island model). I little frustrating they went to all Lippert components, but a nice coach non-the-less.
