With DISH, if I wanted to use DISH in my motorhome, I simply could move the receiver box from house to MH. Is the process as easy with Direct?
Also, will a Direct HD receiver work with a Dish300? Of course, I don't expect to receive HD signals with the old Dish antenna, but I'm hoping I don't have to pick up a Direct antenna and change it out.

Direct HD much more complicated than Dish HD to get all satellites.
Direct SD, if pointing at just the one satellite, easier than Dish.

Have to get a new dish and LNB i believe. I do not think Direct will use a "Dish" dish and vice versa.

No new dish needed, they are totally interchangeable between Direct and Dish, when you use legacy LNBs from the 300/500 dish. If you use DishPro or DishPro+ LNBs, then they are NOT compatible.

That makes sense. I was basing it on the newer DPP equipment. Not the older equipment. You are absolutely correct. The old stuff does work.

First advice I give folks is get an RV account with distant network service, That way they don't hassle you.

Now that we have covered that.. A DISH antenna can be used by a Direc TV receiver, or the other way around, however you may need some expensive electroincs to adapt it.

DISH receivers are very smart, and very adaptive.. They figure out what kind of antenna they are hooked to and use it.

DirecTV receivers you have to tell them and they have a much smaller range of antennas they can use.

That said, if you have only one receiver, It should work

Still, I would replace the dish going the direction you are going,, I mean it'snot like they give you a new antenna with a new account.. Oh wait, they do.
