Just returned from our 4th trip in our travel trailer and noticed the fridge wasn't cooling as it had on the other trips. Took it into the dealer and apparently the cooling unit needs to be replaced. That seems crazy on a new TT that we've only used 4x?!?! Is this a common problem with the fridges or Dometic in general? We've always made sure that we're level so not sure what else we could have done to prevent this unless it was just a dud to start with.

At any rate, Dometic is shipping a new cooling unit under warranty. Hoping it will be here today. Messed up our camping trip we had planned for the 4th but the CG was nice enough to let us transfer our days to later this week. Dealer said we could use the fridge for drinks but to not put any food in it. Freezer works fine. We have another fridge in the outside kitchen that we could use...just doesn't hold as much.

Thinking if the part doesn't come in today or Thursday...we'll pick it up and go on our trip anyway and just use the outside fridge and a cooler. DH is absolutely thrilled (insert sarcasm) at the prospect of picking it up, loading it and then returning it to the dealer after the trip.

That's just what I would do. Don't let it ruin your holiday.

Yes maybe it's a little more work, but hopefully will be worth it in the end.
These things happen from time to time and you just have to roll with the punches.

Take it out, heck you have 2 refridges on that trailer..................Although, I know you like to cook a big spread when camping

Sorry to hear about the added work & travel, keep using it to work out all the bugs, during the warranty period!

Have a great 4th & get out there and enjoy!

It can happen with home appliances to. Any of them can break down but over all I think they make a pretty dang good refrigerator especially with the treatment they get getting bumped around going over rough roads for thousands of miles. Ours has been running continuously for over 2 and 1/2 years now except when getting defrosted and it's still working great.

The trip is back on. The cooling unit came in late yesterday. They'll tackle it first thing tomorrow am and we'll hit the road on Friday am. We had already decided to pick up the TT Thursday afternoon even if the part didn't come in. The DH had calmed down and the sway of mountain biking, camping and kayaking far outweighed letting it sit at the dealer I must admit that I am quit happy with the turnaround from Dometic. The part was ordered on Monday and at the dealer the next day. Kudos!

Just made a grocery run last night to prep for the trip! Think I bought enough food like you were joining us Markie Mark! Ha ha! Hope you guys are having a great 4th. Maybe we can get in a Yargo or Red Top Mountain trip with you before C leaves again.

Well the cooling unit defintely worked! In fact I had to turn it down on the fin somewhat as it was COLD! Yay!!! DH was convinced it wasn't going to be fixed correctly we'd have to use the outside fridge or coolers all weekend. Then, again he also only gave the fridge 4 hours to cool down after it had sat outside in the high 90 degree heat for days. Hello?!?! Told him to give it at least 12 hours before coming to an opinion.
