Becareful as you drive. Sometimes all the care still doesn't help. My heart goes out to all involved in the tragic accident.

This was brought up a few days ago, but no pictures. Yes, pretty hard to be careful on a 2 lane road when the oncomming vehicle decides to enter you lane. Not much one can do. The very interesting and odd thing is the Honda ran into the passenger side, meaning it wasn't a drift, but a hard left turn.

The car veered into the motorhome. The death of so many young people is just so sad.

Although the Wyoming Highway Patrol hasn't finished their investigation yet I am wondering if they were texting because there were several vehicles in the group going back to Colorado. Or it could have been a tire blow out in the van. All speculation I guess. Very sad. Apparently the small child was in a special car seat in the passenger seat area of the MH where the other vehicle hit.
I have driven this route hundreds of times. Not much traffic on this highway between Meeteetse and Thermopolis.

Do you think that a 63 year old driver was texting?
They were in a Honda Element which is not a van. It is a compact car.

Over the past 10 years on RVnet, we have seen a few head ons with a motorhome. This seems to be by far the worst damage to the motorhome compared to any of the previous postings over the years.

I've studied the pictures a bit and it is a little confusing and I was an accident investigator for a number of years. A head on with no braking would put the Honda in the position it's in but not on the passenger's side. From the press release it indicates the Honda "drifted" across the yellow line. This could have been from the driver talking to someone in the back seat or looking at something outside the vehicle. We came through that very spot not two weeks ago. There's lots of distractions. I'm guessing the motorhome driver saw what was going to happen and tried to take evasive action, perhaps swerving left instead of right in an attempt to avoid the collision. My prayers go out to the brother of one of the young men who lost their life. He was in the car following the Honda and witnessed it....terrible tragedy.....Dennis
