I'm curious how many of you who boondock consistently survive without air conditioning or generators. I know many do carry a genny but it seems many others get by on solar and the MH alternator. My old Class C didn't come with a genny and I do like to camp w/o hookups on occasion. I can survive just fine on the single house battery and LP. BUT, the dash A/C barely keeps the whole rig bearable while driving, if idling it is not up to the task. Any tips to RVing without A/C or is it just one of those things we now take for granted?
I remember growing up we had both a cottage and a seasonal lot with a TT (different locations) in Ontario. Neither had A/C and we survived fine. Never gave it any thought. Can't miss what you never had I guess. Guess I'm spoiled these days.

I'll answer next week, as we are going to a COE and will have non electric sites. Its suppose to be 96a daytime and 71 at night. It will be interesting to say the least.

That's true, but I am hoping that being on the lake canoeing will make up for it.

the O2 Cool fan works very well and sips power.some of them work off 12v or d cell batts.that said 96 degree temps demand A/C.

Last summer we had 63 days over 100 degrees. Many of them were 110. I can't imagine that kind of heat without AC.
If I were far North or high elevation I would be willing to try it.

It's all in where you go. We have camped on the Blue Ridge Parkway, for 30 years, and never once have we needed Airconditioning. In fact for the first 25 years. We didn't even use electricity.. we have also camped at the beach with no AC. Ususally cools off at night to where a fan does a good job, If the camper hjas lots of windows.
I prefer AC at the beach.

I've camped for almost 50 years in tents, a PU and a TT without ac or a generator. I'm usually out hiking or otherwise roaming around during the day and in spite of where I live I tolerate cold far better than heat. So if I need ac in the daytime, it's too hot for me to camp there or be physically active. Nights usually cool down to a tolerable level. But the key factor is that I camp in mountain national forest campgrounds at as high an elevation as I can get. Or I go to northern latitudes. I don't camp at low elevations or go east in the summer.
As far as generators go, I don't like the noise and think it takes away from the outdoor experience. And my TT is small and sans most of the appliances that knock a battery down, like tv's, microwaves, etc., so I'm able to get almost a week out of a single 12v battery.
So the season dictates my camping to an extent without ac, on the other hand within 200 miles of home I can vary my elevation from 1000' to 8000' to compensate so it's worked for me. I have considered an ac for a trip back east, but a more attractive option is to just make that trip in the fall.

I lived in Florida from the late 40's through the mid 60's without a/c. Now approaching mid 60's myself, that ain't happening anymore. Electric hookup or generator, the a/c is running.
