Haven't bought RV tires from the net but hubby has bought tires for a Porsche, BMW, and Ford truck from TireRack with no issue. Do your research beforehand, check the return police for whoever you choose to buy from, and go for it. It's a lot less expensive. The only issue you may run into is finding a place that will mount and balance them for you if you did not purchase them there or due to the size of your rig.

Wouldn't shipping be expensive?

Got a set of Maxxies from Tire Rack last year. Even with shipping and install saved a few dollars. No dealer close to us anyway. Quick delivery. The manufacture dates were about six months old, was worried they would send old ones.

Yes, it can be, but they are usually drop-shipped from the manufacturer which cuts down on the cost. The discounted price usually more than makes up for it. Even if you go to a tire store you still pay for shipping-they just include it in the mark-up on the tire price. We also save on sales tax.

According to this: http://www.maine.gov/revenue/salesuse/usetax.pdf
The use tax is the same as the sales tax you are required to pay>

While I greatly prefer to buy locally the last few sets of tires for my Jeeps and DW's Miata came from Discount tire direct. Free shipping and better prices than I can find in town.

Couldn't find Maxxis ST tires at our local Discount Tire as they were pushing another ST tire that gave them a higher profit margin, but went online to DiscountTireDirect.com and found the Maxxis tires we wanted. They were shipped to our front door in 3 days via UPS for free, and I took them to the same local Discount Tire to have them mounted, balanced, and warrantied. Tires were less than six months old and are performing very well thus far.

Yes from Discount Tire Direct, great service.
Be VERY CAREFUL of Tire Rack as they often sell REALLY REALLY OLD tires. Ask them to guarantee tires will be under three YEARS old. Bet they will not. In fact I'll bet they will not guarantee under 7 years old, when most of us think tires should be replaced. Just ask. Let the buyer beware!

buying tires online doesn't seem to be what I feel is a good idea. But good luck.
