Woo-Hoo!!!!

Went King Salmon fishing with RW's Fishing Charters on the Kenai out of Soldotna yesterday and came home with a King Salmon!

OMG - fresh salmon on the grill seasoned with a smattering of garlic powder, brown sugar, and cayenne (red) pepper and topped lightly with a bit of raspberry vinaigrette dressing. So good it melted like butter in your mouth.

DH and his fish

Been there done that last August. Wandering Moose lodge in Soldotna . The owners grilled salmon every night and it was fantastic. Trip of a lifetime.

Great, we are in Soldotna and had a trip booked for the Kenai yesterday but they switched us to the Kasilof. Wife caught a Dolly and thats it. Sure wanted a King but hear they are pretty scarce in both the Kenai and the Kasilof. We cooked the dolly and it is a good tasting fish but not like salmon.
Again congrats..

Great, wish i had one too. Went fishing on the Kenai and Russian River and on Skilak Lake, not one bite. Even in the Stoked Lake of Yukon, we only catched a few very small Rainbows, nothing for a lunch.

From what I understand, the fly have to be at the right spot when the Salmon open his mouth on his way up the stream, you have to be lucky to catch one.
