Just sold our unit on CraigsList and we are on the same platform. Got at least half a dozen responses. It's not the operating system.

When I click on an Email address in a Craigslist ad I get a message saying "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed". I have yahoo mail but can't make it work. Others have posted that they have to copy & paste the address in order to send an Email. Windows 7 seems to have a limit number of Email services that work. If yours is not listed it won't work. It won't accept my yahoo mail service. Yahoo is not some off the wall Email client. Good to know some can use the Email address given on Craigslist.

Yahoo is not an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird, but an email service. You also haven't mentioned what browser you are using so will assume it is IE?

To make Yahoo mail act as your default email client using IE, download the free GmailDefaultMaker. Pay no attention to the Gmail reference for now. When you install the app, make sure to select "Yahoo" as your email service. The next time you click on an email address, Yahoo mail will automatically launch in IE. You don't need this app if using Firefox, as it allows you to select Yahoo as a default email.

Here's a bit more if you use firefox and gmail or yahoo mail.
At the top of the firefox browser click on
Tools then click on Options
In the Options window click on the "applications" tab

Scroll down in the applications list until you find "mailto"

On the right side of the mailto line there is a drop down arrow. Click this arrow and select gmail or yahoo mail.
Click "ok" to save your changes.
Test it.

Try to set Yahoo as email connecting on IE under internet options and then under "Programs". At the bottom you will see "Internet Programs". There is an email one. I'm at work right now and can not mess with it, but you might be able to set it up to where it will go to your Yahoo mail.

Seems like you can not reply to a CRAIGSLIST annoyumous Email address if you have windows 7. You can not set a default mail service with Windows 7. So if you are selling your RV on Craigslist, you will not get a response unless you give your phone number.

I set-up and use my own "disposable" Yahoo e-mail address for the item I wish to sell.

To set which program is your default mail program in Win 7, go to Start->All Programs->Default Programs->Set your default programs. You will see a list of various programs installed on your system. Find the program you wish to use for your default mail client and click on it to make it the default.

I do something similar but use Windows Live Hotmail specifically for Craigslist. Hotmail allows users to create alias email addresses that auto forward to your primary account. The best part of these is that they are disposable. So if you get too much spam for instance, just delete the alias address and create another.

What's also convenient about them is that I can setup Thunderbird to use the alias email address, so when replying to Craigslist ads, the recipient only sees my alias email addess. Any further email correspondence is auto forwarded to my primary Hotmail account.
