Now see you all are getting upset over nothing. I'm not talking about taking away anything. I'm talking about adding something for members. Members don't have to use it if they don't. It would be something that nonmembers wouldn't even see. So most would not even know it's there, unless they were told. Heck it just might be there now.
You know we need an area to show the secret handshake and talk about nonmembers. lmao

Quote: I was merely suggesting an additional area for GS members. Of course there will be members who are not happy and they will post that.
And HOW would that be any different from this forum??
BTW: Here's what you get when you join GS per their website:

Click on "Community", which takes you to "Online Community", click on "go to forums" http://forums.goodsamclub.com/.........which takes you to your very own special Good Sam forum which is RIGHT BACK HERE thru one of the 5 or 6 portals!!!!
And if you accessed this forum thru gaining access to their website to get the above links, which btw you had to PAY for to get in to their website to find the route to this forum.
I joined this forum for free.
Actually I hate to call you out on this one, but you are wrong somewhat. Why yes as a member of Good Sam, what you mentioned is true, I do pay and what you mentioned I do see. But, to those who are not members of GS, when they go to the site, they see that same "Community" link and then when you go down, it says "RV Forum", which takes you right here. So, non paying members still can access the forum through the GS website. Nice try though, I appreciate it!
wbwood wrote: I know there are many different portals to access these forums, RV.net, goodsamclub.com, woodalls.com, etc. Is there anyway to make it where the whole forum is not available to non Good Sam members? Not to cut out the valuable information that many non members give on a variety of subjects, but perhaps an area just for us. Or perhaps make the forum available from the Good Sam club website something totally different and available only to members?
I for one do get tired of non members bashing the organization, as well as the company that is supplying them the means of a free place to come to. I applaud Marcus' availability and his involvement for people to speak directly to him here and do think that should continue. But I do feel that those of us who are members, are missing the chance to bond with other members. We should be able to in an environment where we don't have to worry about our discussions being interrupted or downplayed by non members bashing the organization. I know there are samboreees and rally's and do think those are great and should continue. But there should be some sort of outlet on here, just for us. Chalk it up as another benefit to being a member.
So you think taht just because I am a member I am never going to smack Good Sam or CW around when they mess up........interesting.
After reading all of the posts I have to agree with the original posting. I have often wondered why members did not have a topic area where such things as Samborees, Rallies, Local Club Issues could be discussed without the bashing of non-members. These would be topics and issues of interest only to active members and such things as the sharing of information between local clubs on activities that work, etc. would be of no help to a someone that is not a member of GS.
I have to applaud wbwood for bringing up an issue that many object to but I too can see a real use for it. I actually came onto this forum through GS several times before posting as I wondered if the link had been hijacked.

Thanks charolaisbreeders. I thought it was just a simple suggestion. Not trying to offend anyone with it.
LTCLarry...I didn't say that...once upon a time I voiced my displeasure on here about a certain camping world. This was a couple years ago, before the ask Marcus section. I even applauded Marcus for having this avenue on here. I think it works pretty, although sometimes some things go a little past what I think they should in a public forum. It's one thing to post about an issue. But it's another thing to cut off the hand that is feeding you.. And then expect "things" to happen.
As charolaisbreeders mentioned, it would be nice to have an area for those of us members to discuss things that don't pertain to nonmembers. Becuase no matter what would be said by a member, there will be nonmembers doing their bashing thing....hmmm just like this topic. Personally, I would like to see the club move more into what it used to be like from what I've been told. It was an organization that people were proud to be a member of. There was commeraderie amongst a group that stayed organized. They have it some now, but I feel it can get better. Having those throwing their insults into the ring every time they can, keeps many valuable members from posting or becoming part of a conversation. Everyone, member or not, but especially supporting members, should be afforded the opportunity to be in safe and welcomed environment without verbal assault.

We have a "handshake"! I knew about the "scared pillars " of the Golden Airstream, but a handshake! Where is my membership packet!!!

You were supposed to decipher which GS junk mail to actually open for the instruction manual...guess you didn't get the decoder ring either. Dang it, we gotta investigate this.
They have done their job well advertising to make everyone feel all warm and fuzzy that they have 'joined a club'.
You pay a yearly fee for a card that gives you a discount at CG's, you pay a yearly fee and you receive emergency roadside service, or your pay a yearly fee for extended plan.
They have rallies for all the people who have PAID a fee for a service they offer. Which btw you also pay for the sites at the rallies.
You are 'paying for all the services they offer' for the right to belong to their 'club'. God what a great marketing strategy!

Yes you have to pay, a company can not operate and give everything to people for free. The GS club is much more than "discounts at CG's". Us card carrying members have to help support the company so they can offer this great forum for free.
