We have a new 2013 Ford Edge with 18" wheels and just found out that the Roadmaster dolly will not accommedate it. They only go 12-16" wheels. We would rather not make the new vehicle into a towed so we thought getting a tow dolly would work. Is there one out there that accommedates the 18" wheels?

Thanks............

Size of wheel is not the overall consideration of what can be towed on a dolly. Outside diameter and width of tire affect what can be tied down on a tow dolly. When I checked for larger straps for the Roadmaster. I did not find any.
I have a Demco Kar Kaddy SS. Checking their manual. They offer larger or smaller straps as needed for free exchange. Also there are lots of aftermarket straps on EBAY and other places that sell straps for tires sizes up to 20" for the Demco's.
I live near Wixom, MI. If you would like to try your Escape on a dolly. PM me for info on where to meet.
General RV sells the Demco line of dolly's.

My Murano has 18" wheels and I tow it on a MasterTow 80 inch dolly. They recommended the standard straps but also offer adjustable ones if you desire.
The standard ones fit just fine and are easier to install than the adjustable ones.

I agree, it's the tire tread dimensions that are the determining factor, not the wheel size. My 2002 RAV4 for instance, has 15" wheels with a tire diameter of 27-1/2". My 2011 RAV4 has 18" wheels, with a tire diameter of 28". The tread width on both are about the same. I expect either one would fit on the same dolly.
