DW and I just went through a fairly strong wind event and my question that I hope someone can answer for me is during a wind storm do you pull in your slides on the wind side and why, or do you leave them out and why?

Thanks,
Stew

Leave them out......WHY cause we like to use all the space.

Been in several heavy wind storms......with no problems.

One broadside wind storm (60 mph) caused the top portion of slide to rock in a little bit but GF just sat on sofa and all was good.

Never have brought slides in due to any storm....rain, hail, wind, snow etc.

I have been known to pull mine in during some of the horrific wind/dust storms we encounter out west.

Cannot think of any reason to bring it in because of wind.

I have not worried about the slide outs themselves in the wind, but I have been worried about the slide toppers. I pulled in the slides only once and that was for a tornado warning. But I do wonder how much wind the slide toppers can really take.

Ditto, without hesitation to minimize/prevent any damage.

Exactly....this is why we pull in ours. I once left them out, and the toppers made so much noise from flapping and it actually tore both of them. $300 mistake. Now when the wind is strong enough to make the toppers (awnings) flap against the top of the slide, I pull in the slides.

Lesson learned the hard way.

We retract ours when the wind is blowing in the right direction to make the slide toppers noisy so they don't rip. When we get severe thunderstorm warnings or tornado warnings we retract them right before we head for the shelter!!
