7/18 Update: My local service (not Dodge) station replaced the compressor with a Dodge part because they had the best price. It was supposed to be about $450 installed. But now the signal is not working, it gets 12V and then cuts off. He said it was the Integrated Power Module ($900). Does that sound about right?

Sounds like you shouldn't worry.

Eventually, he will replace the wheels and tires after replacing everything else, and he will get it right.

My immediate question is whether the analysis was botched and the problem was the TCM all along?

I don't know Chryslers (swore off that problem with the last Chrysler), but someone said the electronic fuse in it can be reset 3 times before you have to replace the box.

I don't have a good feeling about the first work done..

'nother update 7/27: My AC SUCKS! It is supposedly fixed but my thermeter is showing 60 degrees in stead of 40 like it always did. Of course I was told that it can't get that low with it being 100 here. Looks like I will be headed to a dealership...

100 deg. Weather should be mo problem getting down to at least 50 on recirculate. I'm guessing they didn't charge it fully.

Wouldn't life be simpler if they just replaced the AC.

They put the compressor on it, a reman from Dodge. Then they put another one from Dodge. The charge seems good, but I think it is pulling in warm air from somewhere or the blower door thingy is bad again.

That is, unfortunately, not an uncommon problem. 5-minute test: bypass the heater core and try the A/C. If it blows cold, you have found the problem.

It'd be a lot simpler if you paid for diagnostics rather than have them try everything in order of their preference!

That's what I did with my bride's Durango. But since everything is kind of packed in there, I just installed a 3/4" brass shut off valve in the inlet hose to the heater core just outside the firewall. Turned out it was the blend door and the problem was already fixed with the valve.
