We have a new cat in the family. She is a 5 year old for a rescue shelter. She (Mollie) is doing pretty good in her new surroundings. And she like to ride which is a plus!!! But she has a annoying habit. When were I come in the house, she comes over and claws between my shoe and ankle, clawing the edge of the shoe. Only does this to me, but did the wife once. Thank goodness she was already de-clawed or my ankle would be a mess! Have never heard of a cat clawing anything but furniture or cat trees. Any thoughts concerning this? I know that clawing is just like marking territory, but I am the only thing she is clawing???

Ditto....that is an affection response.

And yes, very good that she's been de-clawed.

I agree...it's love. She just needs gentle guidance to get her to change a little.

She's happy to see you. Immediately start petting her when she heads for your shoe, to distract her and re-focus her affection on somewhere else.

Be patient and persistent, and she'll learn not to claw at you.
