The spec's on dual pane RV windows do not support the claims we hear on these forums.

The positive results come from folks who paid big $$$ for them so of course they work. Might try a thermo thermometer on both side of the window.

I have a completely different perspective from Rich's opinion.

I did not pay even one CENT extra for the privilege of saying I will never have another trailer without them so money is not a factor in my recommendation.

Only the positive benfits lead me to recommend them.

The positive results for us came as a result of our dumb ignorance to what a dual pane window was.
When we bought our current trailer as a 6 year old used unit the salesman never mentioned it had dual pane windows.
On our first trip in the new to us trailer I kept commenting to my DW about how quiet the trailer was inside compared to our previous 2 fifthwheel's. It was almost like being inside a soundproof room.

I happened to open one of the windows and was shocked at how noticeable the outside noise suddenly became.
it was then that I notice that the slider glass pane was actually almost 3/8 of an inch thick and was made up of 2 panes separated by a seal.
The light bulb came on and I realized at that point my new to me trailer had dual pane windows.
Subsequently they do stay much dryer from condensation in cold weather than the windows on our previous 2 trailers and the trailer is warmer with them.

I am very fortunate that Newmar used high quality windows and that even after 11 years I have yet to have a window seal fail.

we have no problem with dual pane windows. They do have a noise factor, minimal but they do have one. The report we hear on forums and the spec's listed by the manufacturers defy logic. Spec's say they have little of a R factor yet we hear of amazing qualities. In colder weather at our Winter C.G we see propane tanks of folks with dual panes being filled at the same frequency as ours.

Spec's say one thing... if you have them they work fine...Something is not right...

Now the new mar may actually have thermo pane windows...big difference.

It is just like the truck issue..believe the truck spec's on what it is rated to pull or believe the forums it will pull it fine...post.

We have no issue with your dual pane windows working just fine for you..

Just suggesting that before one buys a set that you do a little homework on them then make the decision.Or go by what we read on forums....what ever one does is Ok with me.

Did our homework over many years and would not be w/o the Dual Panes.

You think those that don't have them really wish they did? I bet yes.

I noticed one small window has moisture between the panes, Not bad over 5 years. Easy fix remove unit and take to a commercial glass shop and ther can re seal. I love ours, nice and quiet. I often get the did you hear the ..... noise?

This discussion has taken place over and over.....always the same statement...... "If you do your homework you'll know dual pane windows do nothing"

Perhaps you could post a link to something scientific that actually proves that statement?

I considered dual panes for my new rig but in the end I simply don't use my rig enough to justify the cost or value of dual panes. In a stick home there is real savings gained by using dual panes in an RV there is minimal savings to be gained via energy cost. I have 2 A/C's and use them fully to keep unit cool. While the dual may reduce my energy cost I receive no direct benefit because my energy cost are included in my site fee.
I do not RV in extreme cold weather so there is little saving to be gained by reduced heat cost.
Dual panes may block sound but campground noise is not an issue for me. Blocking the sound of birds chirping or kids playing is not a priority for me.
In the end I saw very little cost savings from dual panes. Maybe If I full timed I could justify the cost because they may generate enough energy savings. However as a some timer I simply did not see enough savings to justify the cost.
YMMV

I will not post a line to the Rv dual pane window spec's. I know what the spec's are. I have done the homework. I am suggesting that others do the homework instead of decision making based on forum post alone.

Just a note... Even if the dual panes did a excellent job in heat and noise reduction we would not get them as we have stated over and over again we stay in moderate enviroments and noise has never been a factor.....We do not need that option so we did not spend the money on something we did not need.

It is so odd that people feel the need to justify DP windows only if there is a cost savings, yet other options are never viewed the same way. Kind of like cost justifying a diesel in a tow vehicle but not other options. I don't want to get side tracked, so anyway, the real benefit is greater comfort. Think we can all agree that RVs are poorly insulated and inadequately sealed. So the typical RV furnace generates more than enough heat to warm the RV to a temp higher than needed and as soon as it shuts off, temps are immediately falling. I find this particularly annoying at night. First, too cold, then too hot and then too cold again as the furnace cycles. Having had both single and dual pane windows, I appreciate the added comfort that DPs provide, both from moment to moment and location to location within the RV.
