I have been told I can not tow 2001 manual shift pt crusier. Does anyone know any way for this to work?

Remco Towing lists the manual shift 2001-2010 PT Cruiser as "towable as is". Check the owner's manual...

I think you've got it wrong. The manual is towable but not the automatic.

I tow an 05 standard shift with no problems.

A transmission mechanic told me even out of gear there is a need for grease to be moved inside transmission. Anyone eles towing pt?

Well, IMO, the first thing you need to do is find a new mechanic. I don't think that one is too swift.
The second thing you need to do is READ the Owners Manual.
Then the third thing you need to do is FOLLOW the instructions contained therein!

I have to run my engine and go through all the gears each day before towing. Perhaps that's what he meant. No big deal.

I have been towing a 2001 pt cruiser manual shift for 2 years with no problems. I confirmed this could be done with chrysler before I purchase the vehicle
